Oahu July 4 Fireworks, Festivals & Parades

Kailua Independence Day Parade
The Kailua Independence Day Parade is one of the most beloved small-town Fourth of July traditions in all of Hawaii — and if you’re on Oahu this summer, it’s absolutely worth waking up for.
The 77th Annual Kailua Independence Day Parade kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on Kainalu Drive. The parade route runs along Kainalu Drive between Papalu Street and Kailua Intermediate, and is hosted by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce. You’ll see music, vibrant floats from local businesses and organizations, and plenty of patriotic spirit — and it’s completely free and family-friendly.
Tips for the Parade:
- Arrive early to snag a good spot along the curb — it fills up fast with locals and visitors alike
- Kainalu Drive will be closed during the parade, so plan your route accordingly
- Bring a blanket or chairs, sunscreen, and snacks — it’s Hawaii in July, which means it’s going to be warm!
- Strollers and keiki are totally welcome
This event is hosted by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce.

Kailua Fireworks
Kailua 4th of July Fireworks at the Beach
After the parade, the fun continues — and the evening show over Kailua Beach is the main event.
The fireworks show at Kailua Beach launches at 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Bring picnic blankets, towels, and beach chairs to sit back and relax on Kailua Beach with a front-row view. Keep in mind there are no reserved parking lots for the show — which is why the shuttle is your best friend.
Parking & Shuttle Info:
Alexander & Baldwin sponsors a complimentary shuttle service to and from Kailua Beach. Extended parking is available at all neighboring shopping centers in Kailua Town starting at 4:00 p.m. The free shuttle runs from the Kailua Town Parking Garage at Lau Hala Shops every 30 minutes between 4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., dropping you at Kailua Beach Center. Note that the last shuttle pick-up from Kailua Beach Center is at 10:20 p.m. sharp, so plan accordingly. Kailua Town
If you’re coming from Honolulu, TheBus Route 57 or 57A is another great option to avoid traffic altogether. HawaiiGuide
Post-fireworks traffic in Kailua can be brutal — budget an extra hour to get back, or wait it out with a shave ice.
Haleiwa 4th of July Fireworks Festival

Get Ready for Haleiwa’s Epic 4th of July Celebration at the Beach
Ladies, if you’re planning your Oahu family vacation around Independence Day, you absolutely CANNOT miss the Haleiwa 4th of July celebration at Haleiwa Beach Park from 1:00-9:00 PM. This isn’t your typical mainland fireworks-and-hot-dogs situation – we’re talking about a legitimate Hawaiian beach party with free fireworks that’ll make your kids’ jaws drop, a car show that even my teenage boys thought was cool, and live music that actually doesn’t suck.
Pro tip from this mom of four: bring your own chairs because the good spots fill up fast, and trust me, you’ll want to stake out a prime location for those fireworks over the water – it’s the kind of magical family moment that makes for incredible photos (book that family session while you’re here!).
- Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
- Time: Around 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Location: Haleiwa Beach Park
- Expected activities: Car show, live music, family activities, food, and fireworks
4th of July in Waikiki

Special This Year: Waikiki July 4th Fireworks (America’s 250th!)
Here’s something exciting that doesn’t happen every year. Waikiki doesn’t typically host an Independence Day fireworks show — but 2026 is a special event in honor of the USA’s 250th anniversary. Fireworks are scheduled to start at approximately 8:30 p.m., fired from a barge offshore, and will be visible all along the Waikiki Beach shoreline.
This is genuinely rare. If you’re staying in Waikiki or anywhere along that stretch of beach, you’re in for a treat you won’t see again for a very long time. The best views are near the Hilton Hawaiian Village, though it’s visible from almost anywhere on the sand. People start grabbing spots hours in advance, so come early if you want front-row seats.
If you’re driving, parking near the zoo and walking toward the Royal Hawaiian area puts you in a great position for the show.
Hilton Hawaiian Village Friday Night Fireworks
Even in a normal year, Waikiki has one July 4th perk that most people don’t realize — and this year it’s a bonus.
Every Friday night, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort puts on a dazzling free fireworks display on Waikiki Beach — a beloved tradition that’s been running since 1988, with only a brief pause during Covid. The free show lasts about 10 minutes and can be seen from as far away as Ala Moana and KakaÊ»ako.
Because July 4th falls on a Saturday this year, the Friday evening before — July 3rd — will feature the beloved weekly show as well, giving you a two-night fireworks experience if you’re here for the long weekend.
The best viewing spots include most areas along Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana Beach Park, and Magic Island. Note that the stretch in front of the Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian, and Moana Surfrider has an obstructed view — walk closer toward Diamond Head for the right angle.

Ala Moana Center: Free All-Day Concerts + Hawaii’s Biggest Fireworks
If you want the biggest show on the island with a full day of entertainment, head to Ala Moana.
The Ala Moana Center hosts one of the nation’s largest fireworks displays — the biggest in the state of Hawaii — launched from Ala Moana Beach Park. On July 4th, don’t miss the live music at Centerstage and the Ê»Ewa Wing Stage in the afternoon, plus DJ sets and games in the Mauka Wing, all free. This year’s lineup includes local favorites High Watah and Hui Pu.
For a great elevated viewing spot, head to the second level open parking deck at Ala Moana Center. Tune into FM 92.3 KSSK for the paired soundtrack while you watch.
Tips:
- Food and drinks are available from mall restaurants so you don’t have to lose your spot
- Arrive early — this is the most-attended free event on the island
- The beach park fills up by mid-afternoon for prime lawn spots
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Location: Ala Moana Center
Activities: Live music, keiki activities, games, shopping, dining offers, and blood drive
Status: Confirmed celebration, but not confirmed as a fireworks show.
Queen Kapiʻolani Regional Park: Hawaiʻi America 250th Celebration
This year’s Fourth is extra special across the board, and this event captures that beautifully.
The HawaiÊ»i America 250th Celebration — “A Day of Unity & Patriotism” — takes place at Queen KapiÊ»olani Regional Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a fireworks show at sunset. Attendees can enjoy Hawaiian music, cultural performances, ono food, and activities reflecting HawaiÊ»i’s diversity and Spirit of Aloha.
Right next to Waikiki and Diamond Head, it’s a beautiful and meaningful way to spend the day with your family before the evening fireworks light up the beach.

Walter J. Macfarlane Memorial Canoe Regatta — A Uniquely Hawaiian Way to Start the 4th
Before the fireworks, start your morning with something you genuinely can’t see anywhere else.
The Walter J. Macfarlane Memorial Canoe Regatta runs on July 4th morning at Waikiki Beach, with outrigger canoe crews racing through the surf — many dressed in red, white, and blue. It’s free to watch from the beach and runs from morning into mid-afternoon.
It’s low-key, local, and completely free — a great way to get the keiki out early before the crowds descend for the evening shows.

My biggest piece of advice? Pick ONE show and commit to it fully. Don’t try to hop between locations (trust me, I learned this the hard way with four cranky, tired boys). Arrive early, bring your own chairs and snacks, and soak in every single moment of watching your family experience the magic of Independence Day in Hawaii.

As a mom who’s watched countless families try to capture these magical moments with their phones, I promise you’ll want someone who knows exactly how to photograph your crew against these stunning Hawaiian backdrops.
