First you need to know the ever change date of Easter. Its late this year!
The 2025 Easter date is Sunday, April 20.
- Palm Sunday is Sunday, April 13. This celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
- Maundy Thursday is Thursday, April 17. Maundy Thursday commemorates the night Jesus was arrested.
- Good Friday is Friday, April 18. Good Friday marks the date of Jesus’s Crucifixion.
- Easter Sunday marks the day Jesus’ tomb was found empty and the stone rolled away!

Simple Photography Tips For Photographing Kids
- Light is paramount. Keep the sun to your subject’s back if you want a nice highlight around the head, and their eyes to be open.
- Utilize solid shade over full sun. This will keep the harsh shadows down and eyes open!
- Turn your phone upside down. YUP! Get those awesome lower angles, particularly during an Easter egg hunt by turning your phone upside down.

Hawaii Easter Egg Hunts – Honolulu Egg Hunts
Waikiki Egg-stravaganza

With three separate egg hunt areas divided by age groups (thank goodness – no more teens trampling your 2-year-old), face painting, and a petting zoo, it’s basically heaven for keiki. The egg hunt starts PROMPTLY at 10am, so get there early or prepare for tears that’ll rival the time you tried cutting their sandwich “the wrong way.”
Photo tip: The light at Kapiolani Park can be BRUTAL mid-morning in the open sun. Position your kids with the sun at your back, or find a tree for shade. And mama, turn that flash OFF.
Seal Life Park Springtime Celebration

Each child will receive a Scavenger Hunt Stamp Card upon entry to the park. As you stroll through the park for our Easter event and visit our various habitats, you’ll have an opportunity to stamp your card. Once all Easter Eggs are found and the stamp card has been filled, visit our Keiki Prize Station to receive fun Prize Giveaways.
Hop-Hop Hooray Egg-cellent Easter Fun at Salt Lake Shopping Center

Kailua Easter Events
Kailua Community Egg Dash
When: Saturday, April 19, 2025, 10am-1pm

This community-organized event is what makes living in Hawaii so special! The Kailua egg hunt is less crowded than some of the Waikiki options (hallelujah!), with local vendors, shave ice trucks, and all proceeds going to Kailua Elementary School. The “dash” starts at 11am sharp, with waves for different age groups every 20 minutes. Pro tip: register online before – waiting in line with antsy kids is basically torture.
Photography advice: This is one of those Oahu Easter events 2025 where you’ll want to capture the LEAD-UP and the AFTERMATH. The actual egg hunt lasts approximately 2.5 seconds, so focus on their excited faces before and their triumphant egg-counting after!
4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Lokahi Market

They’re hosting a three-day celebration with egg hunts hidden throughout their movie sites (yes, your kids can find eggs where they filmed Jurassic Park!), horseback bunny trail rides, and an ono lunch buffet.
