Black Friday Photography Deals: Cameras & Lenses
Black Friday is the golden hour for camera year. Many retailers slash prices on big-name brands like Canon, Sony, Nikon, and Fuji. Most manufacturers are clearing out older models to make room for new ones.
- DSLRs and Mirrorless Camera Bodies – Look out for deals on Canon R-series, Sony A7 models, and Nikon Z-series cameras
- Lenses – Prime lenses and zooms often go on sale. Hello, dreamy 50mm 1.4 portraits or crisp 70-200mm for all those epic family shots (and your own kids on the soccer field?!)
💡 Pro Tip: Bookmark B&H, Adorama and Amazon now. These sites deliver solid Black Friday steals.
Black Friday Photography Deals: Lighting Gear to Shine Brighter
Lighting makes or breaks your shot. Black Friday is the perfect time to build out your kit. You don’t need much!
- Studio lights: Keep your eye out for brands like Godox and Profoto
- Portable Flashes: Need something for in home sessions? Speedlights often hit major discounts this time of year
- Reflectors and softboxes: These smaller accessories can transform your lighting game without breaking the bank
- Batteries! Do not forget to stock up on batteries. Either rechargeable or conventional, get them now for the year.
For my studio set up, I use one Godox strobe, trigger & a 7′ parabolic Westcott umbrella w/ white diffuser.
For my clients’ home, I use one Godox speedlight, trigger, magmod diffusers and 6′ Westcott reflector.
Editing Software, Website Hosting Subscriptions
If you’re not already married to Lightroom or Photoshop, now’s your change to snag an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Or, get upgrades for editing software like Imagen AI or Aftershoot.
- Imagen AI is my go-to for base line edits on all my work. Their culling is currently in BETA and free. I use it but don’t fully trust it yet for my style of photography. I want some eyes closed and motion blur so human eyeballs are still best.
- Get 1500 free credits from Imagen AI with this link.
- ShowIt website designer & hosting. Hands down the best. My SEO trippled within six months of moving from Flothemes to ShowIt. Get a free month here.
- Social Media Planning tools. I like to set it and forget it. At least two static posts a week are locked and loaded into Planoly for me to never touch again. Get a free trial with this link.
💡Pro tip: Keep an eye on annual plans – many software deals go up to 40% off for Black Friday.
Memory Cards & Hard Drives: Back it up, Girl!
Avoid a paralyzing surprise of a corrupted memory card by replacing them regularly. They used to be expensive but not on Black Friday! Look for Black Friday photography deals on even the smallest of necessities.
- SD Cards: don’t skimp here, stick with the reputable SanDisk or Lexar. Get this faster write speeds so you can keep up with the running toddler. Black Friday deals often knock prices down by 50%.
- External Hard Drives – You can’t go wrong with a solid-state drive (SSD) fro fast back ups. My favorite right now is the 2TB SanDisk at Costco. Its TINY, comes with USB and USB-C connections and operates more like a thumb drive (remember those??).
- Cloud Storage – Many platforms will back up your working hard drive every single day without you thinking about it. If the worst happens to your computer – idk your coffee spills or a kid attacks it – Backblaze will have everything backed up on the cloud. Replace the unit, and download your entire drive.

💡 Pro Tip: Write the purchase year on your memory cards and replace them every 1-2 years to avoid an unwelcome surprise.
Business Supplies for the Organized Photographer
Let’s talk about the less sexy but oh-so-necessary side of running a business. Black Friday is perfect for stocking up on essentials!
- Planners – I geek out over my Plum Paper planner. I’ve used so many but I’ve returned to Plum Paper the last 3 years.
- Office Gear – Printers, desks, ergonomic chairs, displays, calibrating software, dual monitors. A quality workspace will be a delight for hours on end.
- Branding Materials – check out Moo.com for their infinity print option for business cards, post cards, and client thank you notes and so much more. Get 25% off your first Moo order with this link.
- Contracts – This is the least fun of all, but so necessary. The Contract Shop has 50% off sitewide from November 25 – Dec 2, 2025. You can get 20% off any time of the year with this link.
💡 Pro Tip: I use Moo.com to for my printed materials because you can have one side with all the proper info, and the back design can be something different on every card! I split it between family work, newborn work and branding work so I always have something on had that is relevant to a new potential lead.
Black Friday Photography Deals: Camera Bags and Accessories
Every photog needs a bag that can hold their gear and look good doing it. Look Black Friday photography deals on brands like Peak Design and Holdfast.
- Tripods and monopods – don’t forget about your BTS footage! Set up your phone to record so you can get in the frame. I use this free standing monopod from B&H (it actually has 3 small legs like a tripod… ironic). Its very solid, easy even in Hawaii sand to get my BTS! But its also takes up very little space in home for newborns… no tripping toddlers, or mom with babe in arms!
- Straps & clips – single and dual harnesses that look good and hold up. I use Holdfast for my dual set up for family photos. But I love Peak Design’s camera strap because it lets me take the strap on and off.
- Camera bag – I have used this Peak Design bag since 2018 and its still in such good shape! Its perfect for flying with your gear or travel in general. You can even squeeze your laptop in it!
💡 Pro Tip: If you switch often between harness & camera strap, or ever use an underwater housing, you need a Peak Design camera strap.
BONUS! Education & Courses
Let’s not forget the value of investing in YOU. Black Friday photography deals include online courses, presets and workshops for deep discount.
Shameless Plug: I’m offering $100 off one on one business coaching scheduled between now and February 2025. Reach out now to see if its a good fit for you!
Black Friday Photography Deals: Where to Find These Deals
- Amazon, duh.
- B&H Photo & Video: I’ve used them since high school. I’ve called them for help more than once and can’t rave enough about them.
- Adorama
- Local Camera Stores – They typically have stock they must move to make space for incoming models.
💡 Pro Tip: If you can buy your depreciable property all from the same retailer, and under the same business email account, you can more easily get receipts and purchase dates for taxes.
Final Thoughts
Take advantage! If you’re fairly new to the business, use this to grow your gear or backups.
If you’re all set on gear, take the next step with annual subscriptions.
If you’re set with those, invest in yourself!
