Truman Aircraft Carrier Homecoming | Navy Photographer Virginia Beach, VA
Mom reached out to me about homecoming photos after months of reschedules. The original photographer she had hired was no longer available (understandably so!) but mom was in a bind. It was a massive aircraft carrier coming home after 10 months away. It had been extended by 3 months! Finding a photographer was getting tough.
The Truman pulled in on time and liberty bell rang as scheduled. Unlike smaller homecomings, this was just a mass of people. Crowds were surrounding the pier, the gates and many people just stayed at the cars in the parking lot. Sailors leaving were in traffic jams at the gate as families were linking up and blocking the flow. And as any giant event, cell service was terrible!

At the end of a career, all that will be left are the photos and uniforms. I pray you have photos! If not for yourself, for your kids.
