Mom reached out about homecoming photos in March with an estimated date of “sometime in June.” I know how these things roll and we stayed in touch as their return date was rolled THREE times until September! I started to dread emails from mom with news, for her sake!
These pilots deployed with an aircraft carrier on Dec 1 and returned home Sept 5. It was a very long deployment that was only suppose to be 7 months.
The homecoming itself was a big party with music, food & decorations. Multiple squadrons were flying in from the same ship all morning long and this was the last of the bunch.
First all the jets flew over before splitting off and landing. In true military fashion, all the excitement was met with “hurry up and wait” as every air craft was inspected before taxing to their hangar.
Each jet parked and waited for the last one. Canopies were lifted at the same time and they walked in formation before a free for all of kids and chaos ensued! It was glorious!

At the end of a career, all that will be left are the photos and uniforms. I pray you have photos! If not for yourself, for your kids.
