USMC Retirement Ceremony | Military Ceremony Photography
It was such an honor just to be asked to photograph friends’ retirement ceremony! We were both in Okinawa at the same time but didn’t connect until we were stationed in Quantico and the Pentagon.
This was exactly how I would want to execute a retirement ceremony – like a party. They served dinner, an open bar, fancy cake, and dancing! Very much like a wedding – Joe was the bride!
Military ceremonies always well up a deep sense of pride and patriotism. I’m a sucker for the formality and traditions of military services…. and uniforms!
What I wasn’t expecting was the USMC reunion that took place! Marines from our first duty station, from overseas, and from more recent tours all in one place. And we had plenty of time to catch up over drinks!

At the end of a career, all that will be left are the photos and uniforms. I pray you have photos! If not for yourself, for your kids.
